Action Research Reflection

My Action research plan has come to fruition and I thought it would never happen but perseverance was my ally. Even though, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be achieved because their were several barriers in my path.  Funding, board member unwilling to see the benefits of technology for our students, and teachers apprehensions towards learning and implementing technology in their class.  Once I presented my proposal and my findings on the benefits of technology for students with Autisms, the CEO of my school shared the information to the board members.  Some of the board member were still resented to the idea but she insisted the board agree with her and my findings about the importance of technology.   After the board meeting the decision was made to purchase some of the technological equipment. As for the rest of the technology we received monetary donations, which allowed us to buy three SMART boards for our academic classes.   I was extremely proud to see my hard work being achieve and those teachers that were apprehensive about using the technology have seem a difference in their students’ behavior and academic achievement.  This was a true labor of love but it was worth it. I can see the benefits of having the SMART boards within our class.  The teachers sated, 'how they had less behavior problems in the classes and the students are more engaged within their lessons.' It was great to hear that and to see the looks on our students’ faces.   Changing peoples perception about technology not being beneficial to students with Autism was the biggest challenge I faced but I was able to accomplish the feat with evidence and persistence.

Happy Dance!  My plan has been accomplished and it can only continue to grow.
